London Symphony Orchestra for Olympic Ceremonies

The London Symphony Orchestra has been chosen to record the orchestral soundtracks for the Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies.

“The London 2012 ceremonies are an opportunity to promote the UK’s world leading culture and creative industries to over 4 billion people around the world”,  says London 2012 Chair Seb Coe. “We’re delighted that one of the Britain’s world leading orchestras will be recording the orchestral music for the shows.”

All the music and acts performing at the closing ceremony on 12 August will be British,  with a programme of live performances and popular anthems.
