The Peacemakers

Inspiring words from Nelson Mandela, Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr, the Dalai Llama and Mother Theresa are set to music, along with passages from the Qu’ran and the Bible, in Karl Jenkins’ work, the Peacemakers.

The Rundfunkchor Berlin and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Youth Chorus feature along with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Really Big Chorus of “a thousand voices”.

Jenkins, whose Armed Man: a Mass for Peace, has enjoyed almost 1,000 performances in 20 countries since its millennium premiere, can lay claim to being the world’s most-performed living composer.

He quotes a line from the13th century Persian  poet Rumi to sums up the spirit of the piece: “All religions, singing one song; Peace be with you.”
